The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures will be awarding $55,000 in student grants to nine universities.
Schools include Brooklyn College, City College, Columbia University, Hunter College, Ithaca College, New York University, School of Visual Arts, SUNY Purchase and Wesleyan University.
Each school selected both undergraduate and graduate student films to submit to the National Board of Review Student Grant Committee, who then selected winners. Grants range from $1,000-$6,000 based on the number of winners from each participating university. Wesleyan will reward just one student with the $6,000 grant. Winners will be announced throughout the month at individual ceremonies at the schools.
The recipient of the $1,000 Charlie Andrews award will be rewarded to a Wesleyan student, based on the student’s thesis written on the topic of film history.
Each of the winning films will be available for public viewing on the National Board of Review website soon after they are each announced
