Nakamura signs up with Avex Ent.

Actor to star in Woo's 'Red Cliff'

TOKYO — Shido Nakamura (“Letters From Iwo Jima”) inked with the Avex Entertainment tenpercentery on Wednesday.

His first role under Avex will be in John Woo’s $75 million actioner “Red Cliff,” skedded for release in 2008.

Avex, a major Japanese music company, launched into the non-musical talent management biz in June and already has signed “The Last Samurai” star Koyuki.

Nakamura intends to establish himself in Asia first before tackling the rest of the world. A member of a famed Kabuki family who has risen to stardom in the traditional drama form, Nakamura has appeared in pics with great frequency in recent years, including last year’s WWII action hit “Yamato.”
