Momentum buys ‘Caramel’

Film screened in Cannes

LONDON — Momentum Pictures has acquired U.K. rights to the Lebanese movie “Caramel,” which premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes.

The debut feature of writer/director Nadine Labaki, who also stars, “Caramel” is the story of five very different women discussing their lives in a Beirut beauty salon.

Momentum m.d. Richard Napper described Labaki as “a fresh new voice in world cinema.” Pic was sold by Roissy Film.
