Michael Bloomberg

Gotham Tribute

Media entrepreneur Bloomberg may have caught some flak for producing 2001’s “Focus,” his first and only bigscreen effort, in Canada. But ever since he was elected mayor of New York City in the wake of 9/11, Bloomberg has helped re-energize the city’s industry, supporting vital new tax and marketing credits, the launch of the Tribeca Film Festival and investments at the Brooklyn Navy Yard to spur development of Steiner Studios. And while he openly acknowledges the industry, which, he notes, “pumps $5 billion into our economy each year and employs thousands of New Yorkers,” he’s also putting his mug where his mouth is: You’ll be able to catch “Bloomie” in the new “Sex and the City” movie.
