LONDON — Matthew Vaughn and Kris Thykier’s MARV Films has signed a three-year first-look deal with U.K. crime fiction specialist Quercus Publishing.
The deal gives MARV an exclusive window to review all fiction published by Quercus, with a view to optioning the film rights.
Quercus was launched in 2004, and now publishes more than 30 writers. Next year it will introduce a list of English translations of crime best-sellers from other countries, including Sweden, Germany, France, Poland and Italy.
Thykier commented, “We believe the agreement with Quercus marks a new approach to working with British publishing houses and their authors.” He described Quercus as “the most exciting publisher in the U.K., with a particular emphasis on the kind of strong thriller and crime genre material that we believe have a significant opportunity to translate to commercial, quality movies.”
MARV most recently produced Vaughn’s “Stardust.” It has an overall deal with Sony.
