Levy approved as Oz film school dean

Former TV producer assumes post next month

SYDNEY — At least three months after Sandra Levy accepted the job as topper of the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School, the Oz government has finally greenlit her appointment.

Levy will replace Malcolm Long, who held the post for four years and oversaw broadening of the school’s focus from tertiary education to continuing industry education.

Long also instigated the school’s popular relocation, still under way, from Sydney’s outer suburbs to a central hub at Fox Studios Australia.

Levy is a former film and television producer who most recently worked in the drama department at Nine Network and ran ABC television from 2001-05.

She will assume the post next month, along with recently announced directing topper Catherine Millar.
