Judd may join ‘Crossing’

Ford, Penn and Curtis part of ensemble

Ashley Judd is in negotiations to join the cast of writer-director Wayne Kramer’s ensemble immigration drama “Crossing Over” for the Weinstein Co.

Already starring are Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Sean Penn and Cliff Curtis. Frank Marshall, Kramer and Gregg Taylor are producing.

Set in Los Angeles, storyline revolves around immigrants from different countries and backgrounds who share a common bond in desperately trying to gain legal status.

Judd will play an immigration defense attorney who is trying to arrange the adoption of a Nigerian girl.

More cast members are expected to be added to the pic, with some, like Penn, making only a brief appearance. Kramer is set to begin shooting later this month in L.A.

Judd, who has been focusing her attention on indie pics, will next be in theaters with William Friedkin’s “Bug,” which Lionsgate releases in May. She last appeared in indie film “Come Early Morning.”
