Jonathan Rhys Meyers on Keira Knightley

Actors on Actors

“From the moment Keira Knightley steps onscreen as Miss Tallis in Joe Wright’s excellent ‘Atonement,’ she manages to embody the spirit and sadness of a ghost whose life has been torn apart by love.

“The scene in which James McAvoy’s character breaks the handle of the vase and Keira jumps into the fountain to retrieve it is one of the most touching and beautiful scenes I have seen this year. Her performance in this movie is truly great from start to finish, and this is what happens when a talented, vibrant actress and a wonderful director get together to create possibly the best war film I have ever seen.”
