Imax breaks ice in Siberia

Company pacts to install theater

HOLLYWOOD — Imax has pacted with Russian exhib Art Science Cinema Distribution to install a theater in Novosibirsk in Siberia.

The theater will be part of the exhibitor’s multiplex due for completion in late 2008.

The deal was signed after Russia’s current three Imax theaters opened “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: An Imax 3-D Experience” simultaneously, breaking local box office records with a per screen average of more than $70,000 for the opening weekend.
