ImaginAsian takes ‘Road’ to North America

Chinese drama licensed from Easternlight

BERLIN — ImaginAsian Entertainment is to distribute Chinese drama “The Road” in North America. Pic was licensed from Easternlight, the Asian division of sales agency Arclight Films.

Helmed by Zhang Jiarui, “The Road” is a drama that covers five decades in the life of Li Chunfen, a ticket girl on a rural bus in China during the turbulent Cultural Revolution. It preemed in Berlin last year and had its U.S. bow at the AFI Fest in November.

ImaginAsian, which styles itself as a multimedia company promoting Pacific content to North American auds, was one of the most active buyers at last year’s Asian Film Market in Pusan. Company has an arrangement with the Weinstein Company’s 70% owned subsidiary Genius Products to handle its titles in home entertainment markets.
