IFP picks projects for Rough Cut

Trio selected for four-day program

“Moon Europa” (Chris Bower), “Tales From the Dead” (Jason Cuadrado) and “The New Year Parade” (Tom Quinn) are among the 10 projects selected by IFP to participate in the third annual Narrative Rough Cut Lab, beginning today in Gotham.

Four-day program brings together firsttime feature filmmakers and mentors, including Forensic Films producer and Filmmaker Magazine editor Scott Macaulay and HDNet Films and Deutsch Open City Films’ production exec Gretchen McGowan.

IFP moved the lab from September to June this year in hopes of increasing participants’ winter and spring film fest submission prospects.

Workshop topics include alternative distribution options, music composition and editing. Distributors Melissa Raddatz and Ryan Werner, composer Mychael Danna and editors Sabine Hoffmann and Kate Williams will lead related workshops.

Following the program’s conclusion participants will have the opportunity to vie for the inaugural Adrienne Shelly Director’s $10,000 grant, which will be awarded to a current or recent female directing alumnus of the program.

Short clips from each of the selected films will screen at the IFP Market in September.

Program is one of two labs taking place under the banner of IFP’s Indie Film Labs. The Documentary Rough Cut Lab will take place this November and move to the spring/summer in 2008.
