Event to take place in Berlin
BERLIN — Hannah Herzsprung, who made a major splash in Chris Kraus’ award-winning prison drama “Four Minutes” as a musically talented but violent young convict, has been nominated as Germany’s contender for next year’s Shooting Stars competition.
Promotional org German Films selected Herzsprung for the event, which takes place during the Berlin Intl. Film Festival in February.
The 26-year-old Herzsprung, who appears in Uli Edel’s upcoming terrorist drama “The Baader-Meinhof Complex,” took supporting actress at this year’s German Film Awards for Alain Gsponer’s “Das wahre Leben” (The Real Life), while “Four Minutes” won best pic.
Herzsprung was also honored at this year’s Hamptons Intl. Film Festival as part of its Rising Stars event.
Organized by European Film Promotion, the Shooting Stars event will showcase nine actors selected from nominees from 22 European countries.
A new international jury, headed this year by cinematographer Michael Ballhaus, will select the nine finalists in December.
