Government aids students

Sapporo officials launch initiative

The government of Sapporo, the largest city on Japan’s northernmost main island of Hokkaido, has launched an initiative to support the careers of local students in the visual-content biz, including providing internships for students at city colleges and coed schools.

The government will send grad students at Hokkaido U. to work on film and TV shoots in the Sapporo area. The first will be “Gachiboy,” a pic Fuji TV is producing, in cooperation with the Robot production house, for release next spring.
