Director in negotiation for 'Zombieland'

Ruben Fleischer is in negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures zombie comedy “Zombieland.”

Rhett Reese-Paul Wernick screenplay centers on the most frightened guy on Earth who leads a motley crew of survivors in a world overrun by zombies.

Gavin Polone is producing through his Pariah Films shingle.

Sony is ramping up the project as a potential pre-SAG/DGA strike film and is eyeing an April start date.

Fleischer, a commercial and musicvid helmer, is attached to direct Paramount Pictures’ “Psycho Funky Chimp” for producer Todd Phillips. His credits also include comedy segments for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and the documentary “Gumball 3000: 6 Days in May.”
