First Run nabs rights to ‘To the Limit’

Unit grabs rights to Danquart's documentary

BERLIN – First Run Features has picked up U.S. rights to Pepe Danquart’s mountain-climbing documentary “To the Limit.”

In the film, the Oscar-winning Danquart follows siblings Alexander and Thomas Huber as they attempt to break the speed-climbing record while scaling El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

The pic has won rave reviews for its spectacular shots and camera work from never before filmed heights above El Capitan’s sheer granite face.

Pic, produced by Quinte Film and Hager Moss Film, is the final documentary in Danquart’s sports trilogy that also includes 2000’s “Heimspiel,” about Berlin’s Eisbaeren hockey team, and 2004’s Tour de France doc “Hell on Wheels.”

“To the Limit” made $1.6 million at the German box office via local distrib Kinowelt.
