Grown spurt should better serve programs

Film Independent announced Tuesday that it would be expanding its staff to better serve its programs, including the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards.

The nonprofit org’s growth spurt includes new positions for old faces. Gloria Campbell, a former freelance production manager for the group, has been named the first operations director for the L.A. Film Fest. Daniele Neuharth, fresh off a three-year stint at AFI, is being welcomed back as director of corporate development.

Other promotions include Josh Welsh — upped to the director of talent development position — and Monique Coleman, who will serve as director of human relations.

James E. Herr is the sole newcomer of the expansion. A board member of diversity-minded groups East West Players and Visual Communications, Herr oversaw Sony’s philanthropic programs for the last decade. He joins Film Independent as the director of diversity.
