October event will include panels, screenings

Film Independent’s third annual Filmmaker Forum will open with a sneak peek at Marc Forster’s “The Kite Runner.”

The Oct. 19-21 event will include panels on everything from dealmaking to the nuts and bolts of production. Panelists lined up include Peter Broderick from Paradigm Consulting, Eugene Hernandez from Indiewire.com and Rebecca Yeldham, producer of “Kite Runner.”

“It’s an honest, off-the-record discussion about filmmakers’ options. Our panel won’t sugarcoat the potential pitfalls of filmmaking,” said Dawn Hudson, executive director of Film Independent.

The forum is set to conclude with the presentation of Film Independent’s Sloan Producers Grant Award.
