Film Dept. taps Bernd Stephan

Exec named company's chief financial officer

Veteran exec Bernd Stephan has been named chief financial officer at The Film Department, Mark Gill and Neil Sacker’s newly minted indie banner.

He’s based in the company’s West Hollywood offices. Stephan recently left Yari Film Group, where he held the position of senior VP and controller and was involved with financial structures of such films as “The Illusionist,” “Matador” and “The Hoax.”

Stephan previously worked in New York for the international tax consulting firm Augustin Partners.

In addition, Adene Lacy has been named VP of finance and Sara Ptakowski has been named director of human resources/operations. Both report directly to Stephan.

The Film Department plans to fully finance and produce six films per year budgeted between $10 and $45 million.
