‘Exile’ takes five at Bauhinia awards

Three pics share top prize

HONG KONG — Patrick Tam’s “After This our Exile” walked off with five prizes at the 12th Golden Bauhinia Awards on Saturday.

The pic shared the best film kudo with Johnnie To’s “Exiled” and Jacob Cheung’s “A Battle of Wits,” and also took prizes for editing, screenplay, supporting actor and newcomer.

Johnnie To took the helming prize at the awards, which are organized by the Hong Kong Film Critics Assn.

Lau Ching-Wan followed his Hong Kong Film Award win by taking the best actor crown for “My Name Is Fame,” while best actress was shared by Gong Li for “Curse of the Golden Flower” and Charlene Choi “Simply Actors.”

Although the 10 nominations for Pang Ho Cheung’s yet to be released “Exodus” puzzled some in the industry, it only walked away with one award — for creativity.
