Prizes to be handed out at ACE Eddie Awards
The American Cinema Editors has tapped John Soh and Frank J. Urioste recipients of its Lifetime Career Achievement Award.Kudos will be presented at the 57th annual ACE Eddie Awards on Feb. 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Soh took ACE Eddies for PBS’ “Infinite Voyage: Unseen Worlds” and the Showtime miniseries “Hiroshima”; he was Emmy-nommed for the latter. He won the Intl. Documentary Assn.’s trophy for “Jacques Cousteau: The First 75 Years” and edited 1971′s “The Hellstrom Chronicles,” which won the docu feature Oscar. Urioste started working in show business in 1957 with Henry Mancini at MGM as a music editor. He was nominated for Oscars for “Robocop,” “Die Hard” and “Basic Instinct.” Urioste served on the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences from 1994-97 and is on the advisory board of the film editors branch of the Academy. Since 1998, Urioste has been senior VP in the feature development department at Warner Bros.
