Co. adds five features and two execs

TV movie producer Craig Anderson Prods. is branching into feature film and TV series development, naming two execs to handle the company’s expanded slate.

David Markus has joined Craig Anderson Prods. as vice prexy of development, while Nathan Santell hired on as creative executive.

Both Markus and Santell will work with exec producer Craig Anderson to handle development.

Company, founded in 1990 by Tony-winning producer Anderson, will continue to produce miniseries and telepics for broadcast and cable. But Craig Anderson Prods. is now in talks with investors about funding five features in the $20 million budget range. That includes “Rules of War,” by David Freed, “Lights Out,” by Jay Frasco, and “Break Shots,” by Yolanda Ferraloro.

On the scripted TV side, projects the company is developing include “Dominion,” from Craig Carlyle, and “Local News,” from Kate Rogin.

“I originally came from the New York theater (‘On Golden Pond’) to do features, but ended up with a great career in television,” Anderson said.

Anderson’s credits include “The Ballad of Lucy Whipple,” “Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal” and “The Christmas Shoes.” He also produced a live version of “On Golden Pond” for CBS in 2001.

The company has several projects in the works at Lifetime, HBO, CBS, Sci-Fi and ABC.

Markus comes to Craig Anderson Prods. from First Light Prods., while Santell ran his own literary management company.
