Carriere earns lifetime achievement award

COPENHAGEN — Scribes Jim Sheridan, David Hare and Jean-Claude Carriere will help highlight screenwriting at the Copenhagen Intl. Film Festival, which runs Sept. 20-30.

Carriere will be presented with a lifetime achievement award for his work on films including “Belle du jour,” “The Tin Drum” and literary adaptations “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” and “Cyrano de Bergerac.”

“No screenwriter has had as big an influence on European film as Jean-Claude Carriere,” said program director Jacob Neiiendam. “His versatility, the high level of his output and the quality of his work distinguish him as a truly unique writer.”
