Cologne Conference moves to fall

Fest splits from Medienforum

BERLIN — For the first time in its history, the Cologne Conference film and TV festival — now in its 17th edition — will take place in the fall, separately from the state-sponsored Medienforum Nordrein-Westfalen confab that runs June 18-20.

Taking place Sept. 26-Oct. 2, the conference will continue to showcase new international series, TV movies and documentaries and present panel discussions and lectures on relevant topics facing the media industry and creators of TV fare.

Among the series that premiered at the conference and went on to become major hits are “Twin Peaks,” “Sex and the City,” “E.R.” and “Futurama.”

Established in 1991, the confab regularly attracts up to 6,000 participants.
