LONDON — The U.K.’s Cinema Exhibitors’ Association has appointed Phil Clapp as chief executive.
The org has been looking for a successor to longtime chief exec John Wilkinson since February.
Clapp joins the CEA from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, where he has most recently been the deputy director responsible for policy on the creative industries, including film.
Clapp begins his new job Oct. 15 and will report to chairman Barry Jenkins. Wilkinson, who has been with the CEA for 17 years, will stay on until the end of October to hand over.
