City Lights nabs global warming doc

Distributor to release 'Toxic' Sundance film

City Lights has turned a little greener with the acquisition of environmentally themed doc “Everything’s Cool: A Toxic Comedy About Global Warming.”

Pic, directed by Daniel B. Gold and Judith Helfand, unspooled at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It’s slated for limited theatrical release on Nov. 9 and a DVD bow on Dec. 11.

Documentary follows a group of activists as they try to raise awareness about global warming.

Release is the first under the City Lights/Green Owl banner, consummating the distrib’s merger with Green Owl Records/Prods., an eco-friendly record company. The film will be released in association with Red Envelope, the production arm of online DVD rental outfit Netflix.
