Renews Oscar coverage

LONDON — Blighty’s biggest paybox BSkyB will broadcast the Golden Globe Awards live for the first time.

BSkyB has also renewed a deal with Disney-ABC International Television to broadcast the Academy Awards live for fourth year on the trot.

Claudia Winkleman will host live coverage of both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards from Sky Movies’ London studios.

As well as capturing the actual award ceremonies, Sky’s coverage will include pre-awards chat with the stars as they arrive on the red carpet plus a few words with the winners, losers and partygoers as they continue celebrating and commiserating into the early hours.

Other presenters set to work on live and highlights’ shows are Jenni Falconer and Brian Dowling for the Golden Globe Awards and Kate Thornton for the Oscars.

Ruggie Media will be producing the Golden Globe and Oscars red carpet and highlights shows for Sky One. Sky Movies in-house production will be producing the full live coverage of both award ceremonies.
