LONDON — U.K. paybox BSkyB and Sony Pictures Television Intl. have inked a new movie deal.
The multi-year agreement, an extension of an existing contract, involves current and library pictures from Sony.
It will include U.K. TV premieres of fare such as “Spider-Man 3,” “The Da Vinci Code” and “The Pursuit of Happyness.”
The deal covers BSkyB’s existing download service, Sky Anytime, and the new Sky Anytime on TV, enabling subscribers to Sky+, the PVR application, and Sky HD to watch on-demand.
Deal was negotiated by Lisa MacDonald, controller of acquisitions for Sky Movies and Sky Box Office, and Danny Goldman, senior vice president, sales, SPTI.
