BRIT Awards announces nominations

Gnarls Barkley, Lily Allen and Muse top list

Gnarls Barkley, Lily Allen and Muse scored three noms each at this years BRIT Awards, the annual pop music kudos for the U.K.

Gnarls Barkley nabbed nominations for international group, album for “St. Elsewhere” and breakthrough act. Rocker trio Muse earned best Brit group, live act and Brit album for “Black Holes and Revelations,” where they are up against Allen’s “Alright, Still.” Allen is also up for best British female solo act and Brit breakthrough. She also made the shortlist for top single with her effort, “Smile.”

Double noms were handed out to Arctic Monkeys, Bob Dylan, Kasabian, Scissor Sisters and Amy Winehouse.

Russell Brand will host the kudocast on Feb. 14 at London’s Earl Court. Corinne Bailey Rae, the Killers, Oasis, Scissor Sisters, Snow Patrol, Take That and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform.
