Black joins Universal’s ‘Adventures’

Actor to star, produce 'Stone Perlmutter'

Universal has acquired the pitch “The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr.,” with Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory to pen the script as a star vehicle for Jack Black.

Black and partner Ben Cooley will produce through their U-based Electric Dynamite Prods. label.

Project is conceived as a faux documentary made from recently “discovered” footage from 1979, chronicling the disastrous journey of a self-styled Indiana Jones-like adventurer who traveled the globe in search of such elusive targets as Yeti, El Dorado and the lost tomb of Jesus.

Scribes Huyck and Gregory are currently writing the Columbia Pictures comedy “Bronze God” and also made a deal at U for the comedy “Pros” for Stuber/Parent.

The duo has another original pitch at Universal called “Pros,” to be produced by Scott Stuber and Mary Parent.  They also have the comedy feature “Bronze God” set at Sony.

Black will next star in Harold Ramis-directed laffer “The Year One” for Columbia Pictures, with Judd Apatow producing.
