Bavaria picks up ‘Freigesprochen’

Nabs film before world premiere

Bavaria Film Intl. has picked up international rights to Austrian helmer Peter Payer’s “Freigesprochen” (Free to Leave) ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Locarno Film Festival.

Produced by Vienna-based Lotus Film, drama concerns a couple who inadvertently cause a tragedy. Cast includes Frank Giering (“Funny Games”), Corinna Harfouch (“Perfume: The Story of a Murderer”) and Robert Stadlober (“Summer Storm”). Locarno runs Aug. 1-11.
