Audiences feast on ‘Ratatouille’

'Live Free or Die Hard' on track for second

Disney-Pixar’s “Ratatouille” dined on an estimated take of around $16.5 million on Friday as the toon debuted in 3,940 venues.

It’s the lowest first-day opening for a Pixar film since “Toy Story 2” in 1999.

Fox’s Bruce Willis starrer “Live Free or Die Hard,” which opened Wednesday, posted roughly $10.5 million in estimated ticket sales Friday, bringing its total take to roughly $25.5 million. Pic is playing 3,408 engagements.

Michael Moore’s docu “Sicko,” expanding into 441 theaters, made an estimated $1.3 million to $1.5 million Friday.

Friday ticket sales for Universal’s laffer “Evan Almighty,” in its second frame, came in at an estimated $5.1 million, bringing pic’s cume to roughly $50.6 million.

Dimension’s horror pic “1408,” which bowed at No. 2 last weekend behind “Evan Almighty,” made an estimated $3.7 million Friday, bringing its total take to $33.4 million.
