The American Society of Cinematographers has dedicated its 2008 Heritage Award to the memory of cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs, who died July 22.
The annual award, a competition for American film school seniors and recent graduates, will be given out at the 22nd ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards on Jan. 26 at Hollywood & Highland.
The “Easy Rider” cinematographer served on the board of governers at the ASC and chaired the education commitee. “Laszlo envisioned the Heritage Award as a tangible way for us to inspire talented young cinematography students to pursue their dreams,” said ASC’s prexy Daryn Okada.
Deadline for submissions for the award is October 31. Entries will be judged by an ASC jury.
