Arnett set to turn ‘Semi-Pro’

Actor to star in New Line comedy

New Line Cinema has set Will Arnett for the starting lineup of “Semi-Pro,” the comedy about the waning days of the American Basketball Assn.

New Line exec veep Kent Alterman makes his directing debut on the film.

Arnett joins Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson and Andre Benjamin in a project scripted by Scot Armstrong (“Old School’) and produced by Jimmy Miller (“Talladega Nights”).

In “Semi-Pro,” Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, the owner-player-coach of the fictional Flint, Mich., Tropics. Arnett plays team announcer Lou Redwood.

Arnett and Ferrell star in the upcoming Paramount-DreamWorks comedy “Blades of Glory,” directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck.

Since finishing his run on the sitcom “Arrested Development,” Arnett has wrapped “Blades of Glory” and the Akiva Schaffer-directed “Hot Rod” for Paramount and starred with Will Forte and Malin Akerman in Bob Odenkirk’s “The Brothers Solomon” for Screen Gems.
