Gotham shingle City Lights Pictures has inked a deal with international sales agent Arclight Films to sell foreign rights to titles on City Lights’ upcoming slate.
Arclight will sell three upcoming projects from City Lights, including Sundance buzz pic “The Ten,” which ThinkFilm is distribbing in the U.S.; Alec Baldwin starrer “Brooklyn Rules”; and Rosario Dawson horror pic “Descent.”
All three will be sold by Arclight in the Cannes market later this month.
Deal is officially only for these pics, but both parties say there will likely be deals for upcoming City Lights movies as well. “We certainly envision going beyond these three movies,” City Lights topper Danny Fisher said.
Arclight’s Gary Hamilton said that despite the larger number of studio exports overseas, the time was right for indie productions to mine foreign markets. “There are a lot of international territories that are in need of product,” he said.
City Lights Pictures is a TV and film production entity that has recently begun to distribute titles as well; it will be taking both “Rules” and “Descent” into U.S. theaters.
Company also has a homevid arm and will release many of its theatrical titles on that platform.
