American World Pictures has acquired rights to “Jump,” starring Patrick Swayze in a drama centered on the 1928 murder trial of noted photographer Phillipe Halsman in Austria.
Swayze portrays Halsman’s lawyer in the pic, directed by Joshua Sinclair (“Shaka Zulu” trilogy) and written by Ryan James. Sinclair also produced, with Lilly Berger.
Ben Silverstone, Martine McCutchenson and Sybil Danning also star. Story’s based on information derived from court transcripts that have been sealed for more than 75 years, and the anti-Semitic atmosphere that quickly resulted in Halsman’s wrongful conviction. Halsman later fled to the U.S. during World War II and became the world’s most sought after photographer, best known for his portraits of Salvador Dali and Albert Einstein.
AWP is planning to release “Jump” domestically in the fall.
