35th edition kicks off with new voting policy

Beyonce, Daughtry, Justin Timberlake and Linkin Park received three American Music Awards nominations each, as the annual kudofest celebrates its 35th edition with a new voting system that allows the public to pick the winners.

Country artists Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood and hip-hop acts Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, T.I. and Young Jeezy received two noms each.

After years of polling 20,000 music fans, voting will be done online at http://www.ama.abc.com through Nov. 1. Sales data determines the nominations.

Nov. 18 ceremony will be the first awards show held at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel will host the show for the fourth straight year.
