'Departed,' 'Feet' will be available this summer

Oscar winners “The Departed” and “Happy Feet” will both be available to German auds this summer, via an agreement between Warner Bros. and Alice, the video-on-demand service that has been revving up in Teuton-land.

The multiyear agreement was unveiled Monday by Warner Bros. Intl. TV prexy Jeffrey Schlesinger and HanseNet Telekommunikation marketing director Michele Novelli.

Deal gives HanseNet’s Alice German VOD rights to new movies distributed by WBITD, plus a number of recent and classic motion pictures from the Hollywood studio’s library.

More than 100 films — including “The Good German,” “Snakes on a Plane,” “The Matrix” trilogy and pics from the “Harry Potter” franchise — make up the offerings, some of which are available immediately.

No pricetag was available for the deal, but Germany is one of the most lucrative foreign markets for the U.S. majors.

Besides providing a joint portal and films, the pact calls for a comprehensive collaboration between Alice and Warner Bros. to counteract Internet piracy Alice will monitor advertising for illegal content and will collaborate with the Hollywood studio on educating European consumers about piracy and on campaigns to protect intellectual property.

HanseNet’s sole shareholder is Telecom Italia.
