PRAGUE — The Karlovy Vary fest, which opens June 29, has scored some star pull with the booking of Renee Zellweger, who will introduce “Miss Potter” at the Czech fest.
Pic, based on the life of children’s story author Beatrix Potter, will screen as part of the 42nd edition of the fest, which transforms the west Bohemian spa town for nine days each summer.
A retrospective on the Japanese new wave has also been announced, featuring the work of helmers Nagisa Oshima, Masahiro Shinoda and Yoshishige Yoshida. Seven films from the first half of the 1960s will unspool.
A William Wyler tribute is also scheduled, including three pics with Bette Davis, each adapted from the theater, “Jezebel,” “The Letter” and “The Little Foxes.”
