ROME — Italy’s Silver Ribbon film nods have resumed their link with the Taormina Film Festival, in a profile-boosting move for the Sicilian fest being reshaped by new artistic topper Deborah Young.
The 61st edition of the country’s oldest movie prizes will hold a gala televised by pubcaster RAI in Taormina’s Greek Theater on June 23, according to Italy’s SNGGI film journalists’ union, which runs the nods.
Ribbons will be handed out a day after the end of the fest, which runs June 16-22. Nominations will be announced in Rome on April 14.
The Ribbons relocated from Taormina to Rome in 2005, after a spat with former fest topper Felice Laudadio.
Young, a longtime Variety film reviewer, took up her new role late last month.
