Vereda Filmes grabs rights to ‘Tune’

Sales unit acquires coming-of-age film

New Brazilian sales company Vereda Filmes has taken international rights outside Brazil to “Desafinados” (Out of Tune), a generational coming-of-ager set during the early Bossa Nova music scene and starring Rodrigo Santoro (“300”).

Set in Brazil and New York, the 1962 drama chronicles the creation of a band, its heady first days and final disintegration with the advent of Brazil’s dictatorship.

“Out of Tune” is helmed by Walter Lima Jr. (“The Oyster and the Wind”) and produced by Flavio Tambellini.

Launched at the 2007 Cannes Fest, Vereda is funded by RB Cinema I, Brazil’s top private-sector film equity fund.
