TORONTO — The world premiere of Paulo Barzman’s “Emotional Arithmetic,” starring Susan Sarandon, Gabriel Byrne, Roy Dupuis, Christopher Plummer and Max von Sydow, will close the 32nd annual Toronto Film Festival.
Based on the eponymous novel by Matt Cohen, pic recounts the reunion of several Holocaust survivors four decades later and how their painful past continues to throw shadows on their lives and those of their families.
“We are proud that the festival now opens and closes with vibrant and high-profile Canadian films,” said fest co-director Noah Cowan. “The inclusion of this powerful film reflects the robust nature of our industry.”
Producers are Suzanne Girard of BBR Prods. and Triptych Media’s Anna Stratton. Screenplay was penned by Jefferson Lewis, and the Canadian distributor is Seville Pictures.
Fest runs Sept. 6-15.
