BERLIN — Telepool has struck oil. The Munich-based distrib has picked up international rights to “OilCrash,” a docu that examines the planet’s dwindling oil resources.
It’s produced and directed by European journos and filmmakers Basil Gelpke and Ray McCormack.
The award-winning Swiss-made doc, which has already screened in more than 30 fests, chronicles the world’s alarming oil consumption, making a case for the complete overhaul of modern industrial society.
Pic lensed on location in the oil fields of Azerbaijan, Venezuela, the Middle East and Texas.
Producer Gelpke said so many current catastrophes, from Katrina to corruption in oil-producing countries, point in the same direction. “Oil is running out, and nobody is ready for the cataclysm that is bound to follow.”
