Studio also ups Matosich in business affairs
Summit Entertainment, which has relaunched as a full-service studio, has tapped David C. Friedman as its exec VP and general counsel, and promoted Andrew Matosich to exec VP of business affairs.
Friedman will oversee legal affairs and Matosich will head business affairs. Both will report to Bob Hayward, chief operating officer.
Friedman served most recently as exec VP for corporate transactions and deputy general counsel for Paramount Pictures. His chief areas of responsibility included individual and slate motion picture financing along with co-financing, acquisition, disposition and restructuring transactions. He joined Par in 1995 and previously served as a partner with Sinclair, Tenenbaum, Olesiuk & Emanuel and a VP and corporate counsel for Nelson Entertainment.
Matosich previously held the post of exec VP and general counsel for Summit and decided to move into the business affairs position after Summit’s recent expansion required a separation of the functions. Matosich joined the original Summit in 1995.
Summit principals Robert Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger plan to distribute 10-12 pics annually, including eight that will be inhouse productions.
