Slamdance taps Drea Clark

Exec will manage fest business day to day

The Slamdance Film Festival has tapped Drea Clark as exec director.

Clark, previously exec director of Music Video Production Assn., will manage fest business on a day to day basis. Co-founder Peter Baxter remains prexy of the fest, which runs Jan. 17-25 in Park City, Utah.

Clark will also serve as chair of narrative feature competition programming. One of her first tasks will be the relaunch of the fest’s website. Expanded site will relaunch Dec. 5, the day the narrative and docu lineup for the 2008 fest will be unveiled.

Clark has worked with the fest since 1998, starting as an intern. She produced events for several years before serving as festival producer for 2006-7.

At MVPA, she coordinated communications and union negotiations in addition to producing events and the org’s annual kudofest. Clark teaches musicvid production at USC, where she’s a faculty member.

In 2007, Slamdance received over 3,500 film submissions and over 3,100 scripts.
