Steve Carell has been named ShoWest comedy star of the year.
“The Office” star will next be seen in this summer’s “Evan Almighty” as a newsman-turned-congressman who is told by God to build an ark. Pic, which is shaping up to be the most expensive comedy ever produced, will be released June 22. “What makes Steve so deserving of this honor is the incredible range of comedic ability and agility that he effortlessly showcases onscreen,” said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of ShoWest. Carell, who first rose to fame as a correspondent for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” has won both a Golden Globe and a Writers Guild Award for his work on “The Office.” ShoWest will run March 12-15 at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.
