MONTREAL — French helmer Claude Miller’s latest pic “Un Secret” is set to have its world preem as the closing-night pic at the 31st edition of the Montreal World Film Festival, and both Miller and thesp Cecile de France will attend. Pic will screen Sept. 3 in Montreal and be part of the competition.
Pic tells the story of a Jewish family after the World War II and its dark secret. Story is told through the eyes of solitary child Francois who invents a brother and imagines his parents’ past. The film is adapted from Philippe Grimbert’s novel and the cast also includes Patrick Bruel, Ludivine Sagnier, Mathieu Amalric and Julie Depardieu.
Pic will be launched in Canada this fall by Montreal-based distrib TVA Films.
Fest president Serge Losique announced Wednesday that festival will pay tribute to Spanish producer Andres Vicente Gomez and the tribute will include the international preem of the Gomez production “Teresa, el cuerpo de Cristo,” directed by Ray Loriga. It will be in official competition. Gomez will receive a lifetime achievement Grand Prix Special des Ameriques.
Fest runs Aug. 23 to Sept. 3.
