Focus Features has elevated Adriene Bowles to prexy of worldwide publicity and exec VP of marketing — a newly created position that broadens her mandate.
In addition to her domestic duties, Bowles will now oversee international PR campaigns and promotional activity for all Focus and Rogue releases; she will also take a stronger role cultivating filmmaker and talent relationships.
Promotion reflects the growing importance of the global marketplace to box office fortunes and kudos campaigns.
Bowles has headed domestic publicity for Focus since its inception in 2002. She had been exec VP of publicity and marketing at USA Films, which was folded into Focus, and retained that title until her recent promotion.
“From day one in Focus’ history, Adriene has been a core contributor to establishing the company’s reputation,” said Focus CEO James Schamus.
Bowles has overseen the PR campaigns for Oscar-winning pics such as “Lost in Translation,” “The Pianist” and “Brokeback Mountain” while at Focus and “Traffic,” “Gosford Park” and “Being John Malkovich” for USA.
Prior to the formation of USA, Bowles was VP of field marketing and promotions for Gramercy Pictures. In 1999, Gramercy was merged with October Films to create USA.
