Pilger’s ‘War’ sold to U.K., Oz/N.Z.

Coach 14 repping pic

CANNES — The John Pilger documentary, “The War on Democracy,” has been sold by Paris-based Coach 14 to Lionsgate for the U.K. and Hopscotch for Australia and New Zealand.

Pic is skedded to open theatrically in the U.K. June 15.

In “War,” director Pilger questions President Bush’s idea of spreading democracy, conducting an on-the-road interview with Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, hardly one of Bush’s greatest fans.
