Peace Arch pockets ‘Ace’

Film unit, Reader's Digest team on feature

Producer-distributor Peace Arch Entertainment, the company behind Showtime limited series “The Tudors,” is partnering with Reader’s Digest and Fox Home Entertainment to make “Ace of Hearts,” a movie based on a story published by Reader’s Digest about a policeman and his crime-fighting dog.

Pic, the first to be released under the new brand Reader’s Digest Family Films, will be released early next year. Dean Cain will star.

Peace Arch will produce the film in association with Jonathan Bogner’s Bogner Entertainment and will distribute the film internationally. Fox Home Entertainment will handle U.S. marketing and distribution.

Reader’s Digest Assn. will provide magazine, direct marketing and online promotion.

“We look forward to building Reader’s Digest Family Films into a leading producer of family entertainment through a series of quality movies and programs based on our library of highly popular stories,” said Reader’s Digest group publisher Eva Dillon.

Script for the movie was penned by Frederick Ayeroff, and helmer will be David Mackay.
