Company picks up worldwide rights to film
Peace Arch Entertainment has latched onto “Winged Creatures,” an ensemble drama starring Forest Whitaker, Jackie Earle Haley and Jennifer Hudson.
The Canuck company picked up worldwide rights to the pic, directed by Oz helmer Rowan Woods, and will pre-sell it at Cannes. The story, about survivors of a random shooting in an L.A. diner, also stars Guy Pearce, Kate Beckinsale and Dakota Fanning.
Roy Freirich wrote the screenplay. Robert Salerno is producing the film, which recently completed lensing.
Supporting cast includes Embeth Davidtz, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Troy Garity.
Peace Arch has several pics in the works, including “The Deal,” starring William H. Macy, Meg Ryan and LL Cool J, and “Watching the Detectives,” starring Cillian Murphy and Lucy Liu. The latter is bowing Tuesday at Tribeca and will screen at Cannes.
Company also co-financed Showtime skein “The Tudors.”
